As Rangers beat RB Leipzig at Ibrox, Christopher Nkunku took centre stage in a tussle with Gers stalwart Connor Goldson.

French forward Nkunku is one of the most highly rated and most sought-after players in Europe right now with a plethora of big names being linked.

RB Leipzig reportedly don’t want to sell, whilst Nkunku wants to leave, with the latest suggesting it’ll cost £85m to sign the forward.

In short, he’s one of the continent’s up-and-coming strikers and any player who manages to shackle him deserves respect.

Come the final whistle, it was Christopher Nkunku who approached Connor Goldson and asked him on the field if he could swap shirts.

This moment proves the respect that an apparently £85m-valued forward has for the centre-back and perhaps sends a message to anyone who doesn’t give the big man his dues.

Christopher Nkunku in ultimate Connor Goldson respect

Connor Goldson is far-and-away the best all-round defender at Ibrox and in Scotland and there will be a chasm should the player move on this summer.

Goldson’s relentless consistency is already a thing of legend – the ex-Brighton centre-half played every minute of the legendary 55 season – and once again he is a reliable and focused presence at the back for the Gers.

With his contract up it looks increasingly likely the big man will move on and after four seasons his contribution to Rangers has been legendary.

More may yet be to come in the next few weeks as Rangers march to the Europa League Final and as Christopher Nkunku found out, the big man will do everything to secure that trophy.

Rangers fans – and the wider footballing community in Scotland – must also respect that if the club does get its hands on the Europa League, it’ll be in do small part down to the leadership and performances of Connor Goldson.

Meanwhile, the celebrations of one Rangers legend sums up exactly how every single Ibrox supporter is feeling.
