Do £20m Premier League reports hint Rangers' Alfredo Morelos will stay put?

The news that Swansea and Scotland striker Oliver McBurnie is reportedly interesting Sheffield United to the tune of £20m shows just how inflated the market is in the Premier League.
But it could also help to ease Rangers fans’ minds about the future of talisman Alfredo Morelos.

Whilst the newly promoted side might not be the ideal destination for the Colombian – nor is there any suggestion they’ve ever been interested in him – they are a big enough club in northern England and, for this year at least, have Premier League status.
Reports claim that Alfredo, amid reported interest from Germany [
Daily Record] and Italy [Herald], has always reiterated that England is his preferred destination [Daily Record].
For £20m, any team in the Premier League could realistically make the 30-goal striker their own.
The fact that the league’s sides are opting to move elsewhere bodes as a good omen for the player’s immediate future.

If the Blades would sooner splurge the eye-watering amount on McBurnie, and in turn West Ham move for Seb Haller and Palace for Jordan Ayew, it suggests they’re not willing to seriously meet Rangers asking price.
Whether that says more about Rangers’ valuation of Morelos or other clubs’ perception of him is another story.

The notion that Oliver McBurnie is a better player than Alfredo Morelos is also something which most Gers fans would outright dispute.
But what’s not up for dispute is that for the same reported price, Rangers would accept a bid for their star player.

This suggests that clubs in England are not prepared to invest such an amount for the striker. Yet.
And that could bode very well for Rangers as the club looks to keep the Colombian at Ibrox for at least another season.
