Whilst all eyes will be on Aberdeen’s new manager making his debut, Rangers fans are hoping to catch their first glimpse of Mohamed Diomande at Ibrox.

With the Dons appointing legendary English manager Neil Warnock, 75, as their new boss, the ex-Sheffield United, QPR, and Crystal Palace manager’s first foray into Scottish football has already begun to steal the headlines.

But in a match where legends can so often be made, Rangers could also be set to introduce a player of real potential.

Step forward Mohamed Diomande who, after being introduced to the crowd in the win over Livingston, is all set for some real action against Aberdeen.

Rangers fans wait on Mohamed Diomande debut

Rangers fans are hoping to catch their first glimpse of Mohamed Diomande against Aberdeen, be it from the start of the match or from the bench.

Big things are expected of the reported £4.3m loan-to-buy midfielder, who has just joined in January from Danish side FC Nordsjælland.

A product of the Right to Dream academy, the 22-year-old Ivorian has been tipped to go on and achieve big things in the game but Rangers are a big step up from Denmark.

As part of that journey, Mohamed Diomande could be about to take his first steps onto the Ibrox pitch as a player and there are few better matches to do it than against Aberdeen.

Aberdeen clash comes at good time

Whilst Philippe Clement did admit the Ivorian midfielder wasn’t as fit as the fellow January signings Fabio Silva and Oscar Cortes, who have already played for the club, it isn’t expected to hold Diomande down for long.

With the Danish league on its mid-season shutdown it’s been a few weeks since Mohamed Diomande last played competitively but that should be no issue heading into the game.

Rangers are also set to rotate the returning Ryan Jack out of the squad, and with Jose Cifuentes closing in on a switch to Brazil, suddenly there is room for Dio to move into.

It’s added an extra sense of excitement to the clash with Aberdeen and let’s see if the club’s latest midfield talent gets the nod at Ibrox.
