Rangers playmaker and Alaves loanee Ianis Hagi has sent a message congratulating his teammates after they lifted the League Cup.

The Romanian international, 25, took to X to revel in the celebrations of the Rangers team after they overcame Aberdeen 1-0 at Hampden.

Rangers star Ianis Hagi has congratulated “everyone at Rangers” following the League Cup Final victory over Aberdeen at Hampden.

Also claiming the Cup win was “very much deserved”, the message will do little to dampen the conversation surrounding a potential January return for the playmaker.

“Well done to everyone at @RangersFC,” said Ianis Hagi, sharing an official club image from the victory. “Very much deserved!”

The result has the potential to kickstart a famous season for Rangers, who lift the trophy for the first time in 13 seasons and for the first time since the club’s financial collapse in 2012.

Ianis Hagi – who initially joined Rangers on loan in the January of 2020 – is not part of the team who lifted the trophy after leaving Ibrox on loan during the tenure of Michael Beale in the summer.

After a public plea for minutes following a devastating cruciate ligament injury in the January of 2022, the now Sunderland-bound Beale quickly sanctioned a loan deal for Ianis Hagi in Spain.

Impressing in flashes for Alavés, and guiding Romania to Euro 2024, you’ll forgive some Rangers fans for considering a return for the 25-year-old, who only signed a new deal at Ibrox last season.

Potential Rangers return?

Interestingly, the chatter surrounding a potential Ianis Hagi return to Rangers has ramped up in recent weeks following comments made by leading insiders Heart & Hand.

Whilst the Ianis Hagi to Alavés loan deal is not believed to have an option-to-buy, the Rangers media partners claimed recently that it did include a recall option in January.

It’s not clear if manager Philippe Clement sees the Romanian as a potential part of his new-look Rangers squad but the La Liga playmaker is a solid option to have.

It’s also clear that Ianis Hagi is very much keeping abreast of what is happening at Rangers, having just tuned into the League Cup Final victory.

Ianis Hagi has made 16 appearances for Alaves this season, including 12 in the Spanish top flight.
