Derek Ferguson has delivered his verdict on Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti ahead of the Hearts game at Ibrox.

Chermiti started for Rangers against Motherwell and endured an evening to forget.

The Ibrox outfit failed to pick up the three points against ten men as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Fir Park.

This result saw them fail to close the gap on Hearts as they find themselves five points behind the league leaders.

Derek Ferguson wants Danny Rohl to drop Youssef Chermiti

Ferguson was discussing the Motherwell game and was not pleased with Rohl’s team selection.

The fact that the Ibrox outfit spent so much money in January only for the new signings to be left on the bench is not something that sat well with him.

He has urged Rohl to make a change for what could be a potential title decider against Hearts at Ibrox.

Win and they close the gap to two points and would arguably have better chances than the Tynecastle outfit to win the title.

A loss would see them eight points adrift and the title chase could be over for them in mid-February.

Ferguson told Open Goal: “Chermiti? No. Naderi, every day of the week. Obviously, the physicality with Hearts.”

Why Ryan Naderi is a better fit for Rangers than Youssef Chermiti

Chermiti’s recent form and performance against Motherwell are enough reasons to take him out of the firing line.

He does not seem to be high on confidence currently, and it would be sensible to use him as an impact substitute in the coming games.

Even while comparing him to Ryan Naderi, the new signing is far more clinical than the former Everton man.

Chermiti has four goals in 17 games and Naderi, albeit playing in a weaker league, arrived with eight goals and five assists in 18 matches.

He also scored two goals in his first two matches for the Ibrox outfit, and is in form, which Chermiti is not.

Also, Naderi offers more of a physical threat than Chermiti, and that will be needed against a robust Hearts defence.

His aerial dominance could see Rangers exploiting wide spaces and set pieces to give them the best chance of picking up the three points.
