Watch as rival Malmo FF fans let off fireworks outside Rangers team’s hotel

Rival Malmo fans have given the Rangers team a very warm welcome to Sweden indeed as they let off fireworks outside the club’s hotel at close to 3am this morning.

In a clip uploaded by Twitter user @Phreds040, it claims to show Malmo FF ultras group Blatte Ultras letting off fireworks outside the hotel at 2:40am this morning.

It’s a classic move by rival fans in European competition and we’re sure that the Rangers travelling party would’ve both a) expected disruption and b) prepared for it.

Not that these sorts of old tricks have had a negative impact on the Rangers team in recent seasons.

Fans of Dutch club Willem II also gave the Gers a rude and late-night awakening in the Netherlands during Europa League qualification last season.

However, it did little to dampen the Gers’ resolve and the Ibrox club ran through their Dutch counterparts, thumping Willem II 4-0 in a resounding European victory.

The club themselves couldn’t even resist taking aim at Willem in the aftermath of that victory, gunning for the Willem II fans with a classic Still Game quote.

Rangers are preparing to face Malmo FF in Sweden in the first leg of their Champions League qualification effort.

Swedish Champions Malmo have defeated Latvian Champs Riga FC and Finnish counterparts HJK Helsinki to reach this stage of the competition.

Rangers enter at the third stage of qualification with a Playoff clash against either Ludogorets of Bulgaria or Olympiakos of Greece awaiting the victor of the clash with Malmo.

Here’s how Rangers fans reacted to the Playoff draw, even if the club faces a stiff test against the Swedes to make the final round of qualifying.
