Rangers boss Michael Beale has claimed the club are “pleased” with the progress of talks with Todd Cantwell as the January transfer window enters its final two weeks.
The Ibrox manager was speaking amid fan frustrations with the Gers yet to announce a new signing despite the early promise of up to four names joining the club this January.

Todd Cantwell is one of the leading names involved in the discussion and Rangers boss Michael Beale hasn’t exactly been too cryptic when it comes to the Ibrox club’s interest.
But as the Gers boss shot down links to Everton midfielder Tom Davies, the Ibrox gaffer talked up the discussions around Todd Cantwell even if he stopped short of confirming a deal was close.
Michael Beale talks Rangers links to Todd Cantwell
“I’m really pleased with the way things are moving,” said Michael Beale when asked about Todd Cantwell [Rangers].
”No news doesn’t mean bad news. Everyone is on the same line and everyone is moving in the right direction.
“That’s not specifically speaking about that player, that’s just things in general.
“I don’t want any short-term gaps. For me, it’s about bringing in players who I think can make a big impact moving forward.
“There’s ongoing discussions with players who are out of contract, so we’re trying to look at what the squad is going to look like in 2023, 2024 and onwards.
“In the past we’ve made some key recruits that are still in the building now. It’s important whatever decisions we make are the right ones.
“At the moment, with everything I’m hearing from behind the scenes I’m happy with.”
Rangers also reportedly face competition for the out-of-contract Todd Cantwell, who was once rated as a £50m player during his time in the Premier League.
Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven have been linked in recent weeks, whilst there are murmurs of Championship interest even if links to Blackburn Rovers been shot down recently.
Todd Cantwell isn’t the only player Rangers are being linked to either, with one Championship star also discussed by Michael Beale.
