Rangers manager Michael Beale has claimed that Everton midfielder Tom Davies is not on the Ibrox club’s transfer shortlist as the Gers support gets antsy over new signings.
The Ibrox gaffer has previously claimed that up to four new players could come in through the Auchenhowie doors this January but so far Rangers are yet to make a single signing.
This – according to comments from Beale earlier in the month – includes stars from the continent and from the Premier League.
But interestingly, Everton star Tom Davies – who Beale has previously waxed lyrical about and who is the only player linked from the English top flight this January – is not a Rangers target.
Speaking to the media ahead of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership clash with Kilmarnock, the Rangers manager claimed he was just answering questions on Tom Davies and that the Everton star is not on Rangers’ radar.
“There is no interest on our side towards Tom,” said Michael Beale [Rangers].
”There has been no talk about Tom, you caught me on the hop that day and I said a couple of nice things about him because he is a young British player who I saw coming through as a young player.
“I am pleased to see his progress, he plays for a fantastic football club and I think that is where he is going to be, he is not going to be a Rangers player in the future.”

Rangers fans will now turn their attentions elsewhere but it’s clear that there are a few nerves around the place as the window enters its final two weeks.
The Gers squad has done well to register six wins and a draw under Michael Beale since the ex-QPR boss was appointed but it is evident the club need reinforcements, particularly in midfield.
As a move for midfielder Tom Davies was ruled out, Michael Beale moved to calm nerves heading into an important juncture of the season.
“Obviously I’ve got more insight to it [Rangers’ transfer business] than everybody else and I realise that the fans are really wanting new players in,” said Michael Beale.
“We’re certainly working on bringing in the right ones and, as soon as we get some news, we’ll certainly send it outwards.”
Whilst Tom Davies isn’t a Rangers transfer target, a talented Anderlecht full-back reportedly is.
