Once Rangers-linked midfielder Joey Veerman is being linked with a move to Man Utd – with separate reports also linking Ibrox target Todd Cantwell with a move to PSV Eindhoven.
The 24-year-old Netherlands midfielder has impressed ever since moving to the Philips Stadion last January with the switch still a sore spot for some Rangers fans.
The Ibrox side were linked with a high-profile pursuit of the then Heerenveen midfielder during the summer of 2021 under Steven Gerrard but failed to stump up the necessary cash for the player.
Rangers were made to rue the decision, with the club failing to qualify for the Champions League, Steven Gerrard leaving amid complaints over a lack of investment and Celtic overtaking the club after a summer of transfers at Parkhead.
The player would then join PSV Eindhoven in a £5m deal last January and even played against Rangers as the Gers defeated the Eredivisie side in the Champions League Playoffs earlier in this season.

Joey Veerman would’ve represented the kind of midfield investment the club was crying out for then and still is now, with Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell the latest name on Rangers’ radar.
However, if the latest reports are to be believed the Ibrox side could yet see the name Joey Veerman curse them again if the dominos fall in the direction of Man Utd.
That’s after reports in the Sun claimed that Man Utd boss Erik Ten Hag is considering a move for the PSV Eindhoven star with the Red Devils said to be in hot pursuit of a new midfielder.
Combine this with Football Insider reports claiming that PSV Eindhoven are eyeing a late swoop for seemingly Rangers-bound Todd Cantwell and it all presents something of a nightmarish scenario.
It would be frustrating to see a player who slipped through the club’s fingers move to the Premier League for big money after having an impact with his new club, before seeing Rangers’ prime target in this window moving on to replace him.
Whilst we don’t see it – and Michael Beale has hinted Todd Cantwell is on his way to Rangers – let Joey Veerman be a lesson to the club as Man Utd reportedly target a high-profile transfer.
