AZ Alkmaar manager Pascal Jansen is not expected to become the next manager of Rangers, according to Sky Sports.

The leading broadcaster has been providing an update on the Rangers managerial situation as the club’s search prepares to finish a second week.

There are four main names now doing the rounds with regards the Rangers job with Pascal Jansen joining Belgian frontrunner Philippe Clement, Australian alternative Kevin Muscat and Austrian wildcard Oliver Glasner on the list.

However, Sky Sports are now claiming that it is very unlikely that Pascal Jansen will leave AZ Alkmaar to become the next Rangers manager with the high-flying Dutch outfit second in the Eredivisie.

The report claims that “it is believed” Pascal Jansen will stay in the Netherlands and build on his success with the Dutch side as he looks to potentially challenge PSV Eindhoven for the title.

Pascal Jansen unlikely to be next Rangers manager

Pascal Jansen has also remained in the discussion around who will become the next Rangers manager despite previously suggesting he was not set to take the job.

One of the first names linked to the post after the sacking of Michael Beale, the Dutchman was asked about Rangers by the media in the Eredivisie.

Even back then, Pascal Jansen was suggesting that talk of taking over as the next manager of Rangers was a non-starter.

“I don’t know if there has been contact with AZ,” Jansen tells Voetbal International. “But there has been no contact with me.

“I don’t know where (the Rangers rumour) came from. It’s completely out of the question.”

Now, Rangers fan attentions will turn to the other names in the running as the club looks to appoint their 19th permanent manager.

The sounds around Belgian coach Philippe Clement certainly got louder this week with Australian manager Kevin Muscat appearing fully focused on his current gig with Yokohama F Marinos.

Ex-Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glaser remains a potential option but according to Sky Sports at least, Pascal Jansen does not look a likely candidate.
