Rangers are reportedly leading the chase to sign Blackpool striker Jerry Yates in January, according to Alan Nixon.
The Sun journalist has claimed that it’s the Ibrox club who are heading the list of suitors to sign the 26-year-old hitman, who has netted nine Championship goals for the Seasiders this season.

Speaking on his official Patreon, Nixon claims that Rangers are looking to secure a knockdown £2m deal for Jerry Yates but Blackpool are holding out for £5m.
However, it is claimed that Blackpool are willing to sell the striker with the club looking to remain competitive in the Championship in the second half of the season.
Rangers reportedly lead Jerry Yates hunt
The claims come amid high-profile Rangers links to Jerrry Yates, with the Ibrox club apparently sending scouts – alongside several other clubs – to watch the striker score a double against Preston North End back in October.
Interestingly, that wasn’t the first time Rangers have been linked with a move for Jerry Yates with the Gers linked last summer under the management of Steven Gerrard.
Rangers were said to have been impressed by Yates scoring 20 times in his first season with Blackpool following a move from Rotherham, the goals helping the club back to the Championship from League One.
Ahead of last season, Yates was said to be valued at only £2m by the English outfit meaning Rangers could need to pay up to £3m more by failing to pounce little over a year ago.
But last season was not the most profitable for Jerry Yates in terms of numbers as the step up to the Championship heralded only eight goals from 39 games as Blackpool finished 16th.
The ex-Harrogate, Carlisle and Swindon forward has already matched that this time around and it certainly appears like there is plenty of interest in his services.
Rangers are however well stocked in the striker position, with Antonio Colak adding to existing striker pair Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe at Ibrox.
But with Morelos’ contract ticking down and Roofe a consistent fitness worry, perhaps Blackpool striker Jerry Yates is a solid alternative.
Meanwhile, one major Rangers partner could be set to see a Premier League deal ripped up.
