Rangers watch Blackpool striker Jerry Yates score a double against Preston North End as Premier League clubs including Brentford and Bournemouth also look on.

That’s according to the Sun, who claim that no fewer than 10 clubs watched the 25-year-old Englishman score his 7th and 8th Championship goals of the season.

Championship rivals West Brom and Watford were also named as potential Jerry Yates suitors, with a January “transfer scramble” potentially set to take place with the Seasiders languishing in 18th place.

Jerry Yates is contracted to Blackpool until 2024 with the report claiming the Championship outfit value the striker – who is the English second tier’s joint top scorer – at £5m.

Rangers linked with Blackpool striker Jerry Yates

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Rangers have been linked with a move for Jerry Yates with the Gers linked last summer under the management of Steven Gerrard.

Rangers were said to have been impressed by Yates scoring 20 times in his first season with Blackpool following a move from Rotherham, the goals helping the club back to the Championship from League One.

Ahead of last season, Yates was said to be valued at only £2m by the English outfit meaning Rangers could need to pay up to £3m more by failing to pounce little over a year ago.

But last season was not the most profitable for Jerry Yates in terms of numbers as the step up to the Championship heralded only eight goals from 39 games as Blackpool finished 16th.

The ex-Harrogate, Carlisle and Swindon forward has already matched that this time around and it certainly appears like there is plenty of interest in his services.

Rangers are however well stocked in the striker position, with Antonio Colak adding to existing striker pair Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe at Ibrox.

But with Morelos’ contract ticking down and Roofe a consistent fitness worry, perhaps Blackpool striker Jerry Yates is a solid alternative come the end of the season if he doesn’t move in January first.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans are touting three main managers to replace Van Bronckhorst should the Dutchman be sacked.
