Rangers may well be in a position to announce the signing of Dutch Atalanta striker Sam Lammers this afternoon; if he comes through a proposed medical unscathed.

According to reports, the 26-year-old forward is due to in Glasgow today (Wednesday 14th June) with a view to completing a move to Ibrox.

As part of that, the suggestion is that Sam Lammers will undergo a medical at Rangers and if all goes to plan, then there should be nothing stopping the club announcing the move.

This comes after claims from the likes of Chris Jack and Four Lads Had a Dream that a deal to bring Sam Lammers to Rangers has been agreed in Italy and Scotland, even if there is a little disagreement over the transfer fee involved.

Some outlets are reporting that Rangers have struck a £3m deal, whilst others have claimed the transfer fee is closer to £3.5m.

Online transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also been tweeting about the deal, the Italian also claiming that Sam Lammers’ Rangers medical is set to take place today.

Rangers ready to announce Sam Lammers if he passes medical

If all of this is true, and should all the particulars of the contract have been thrashed out already, then there will be nothing stopping Rangers announcing Sam Lammers after his medical.

These things tend to happen pretty quickly so, whilst we can’t be sure that an announcement will come later today, should the medical tests go to plan then there Rangers appear free to announce the attacker.

The news will be of great excitement to Rangers fans who are eager to see the club bolster a underperforming frontline ahead of the new season.

Rangers’ bungling strikers have come up short over the last few domestic campaigns and the imminent Sam Lammers medical likely won’t be the last in that position this summer.

There are also extensive links to the likes of Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers, whilst out-of-contract Bordeaux striker Josh Maja has also been mentioned.

Rangers have already announced the pre-contract signings of Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling and Jack Butland this summer, meaning Lammers would be the fourth signing of the summer window.

The Dutchman would also be the sixth capture of Michael Beale’s reign, with the Gers boss having signed Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin in January.
