It’s all change at Bayern Munich with the appointment of Thomas Tuchel, but as Rangers fan nerves jangle over Malik Tillman, links to Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic offer fresh hope.
Whilst the Croatian international midfielder plays slightly deeper than Malik Tillman – who has been employed as a striker in his days in the Bayern youth set-up – any transfer would bolster an already packed midfield.

Bayern already boast the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretska, Ryan Gravenberch and Jamal Musiala in the position with come conjecture regarding a summer of investment.
It is Calciomercato pushing the Thomas Tuchel interest in Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic, with Senegalese Stamford Bridge goalkeeper Edouard Mandy also said to be a target.
But there have been claims that the the Germans are instead focusing on “continuity and development”, something which will sound ominous to Rangers fans.
At the very least, the Chelsea links suggest this will not be the case in a boost to Rangers supporters.
Thomas Tuchel faces Bayern Munich Malik Tillman call
Thomas Tuchel has just replaced Julian Nagelsmann in the job with the 10-in-a-row Bundesliga champions only one point off Borussia Dortmund at the top of German football.
The appointment has sent a minor shockwave through Rangers who will fear that Tuchel will want to review his options before making a decision on his Bayern squad this summer.
A-la-Ryan-Kent at Liverpool in 2019, that means Rangers could be in for a full summer of will he won’t he with Bayern attacking midfielder Malik Tillman, who has impressed during a loan spell.
The 20-year-old USA international has shown himself to be a class apart from Scottish football at times this season and is a frontrunner for the Young Player of the Year award.
Rangers will reportedly have to pay £6.2m (€7m) to make the Malik Tillman deal permanent and Michael Beale has been clear that he wants the club to follow through on an option to buy.
Ross Wilson was initially praised for striking the deal and will do his bruised reputation no harm by completion the move this summer.
It also depends on where Bayern Munich view the future of Malik Tillman and how the USA international will play for them.
If other reports are to be believed, the Germans could use Malik Tillman as more of a forward player with his future potentially dependent on the outcome of situations surrounding Bayern stars Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane.
