Manchester United have been quoted £17m for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez as Rangers reportedly have a bid turned down for the Mexican’s strike partner Danilo.
Rangers fans have been left excited by reports emerging this week that the club have formally bid for 24-year-old Brazilian forward Danilo, who netted 14 times as Feyenoord were crowned Eredivisie champions last season.
The move has now been caveated by the fact the Dutch champions could also lose leading striker Santiago Gimenez, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
But if the Red Devils want to do a deal, the player’s agent Matias Bunge revealed they’ll need to cough up with Feyenoord valuing Santiago Gimenez at around £17m (€20m).
“Santiago is in the sights of many clubs, not just Lazio,” agent Matias Bunge told Sport Italia, confirming interest from Maurizio Sarri’s Serie A runners-up.
“He has a great goalscoring nose. With his qualities and physical characteristics, I think he would stand out in Italy and could do well there
“For this amount (20 million euros or £17 million) he will not be able to leave Feyenoord. And the idea is that he stays for at least one more season in the Netherlands.”

Feyenoord could now face a major dilemma with both Santiago Gimenez, 22, and Danilo, 24, heading into next season amid apparent interest from Manchester United and Rangers respectively.
The strike duo led the line for Feyenoord in what proved a successful season in the Netherlands and now the pair could be set to take their league winners’ medals and run this summer.
But for Rangers fans hoping that Feyenoord might welcome a boost to their transfer coffers this window amid the club’s interest in Danilo, the situation with Santiago Gimenez may well complicate matters.
The Mexican international netted 28 times last season and is the Dutch side’s first choice forward, with an exit potentially poised to have Feyenoord thinking twice about Danilo.
