The latest reports surrounding Bayern loanee Malik Tillman are ominous for Rangers as the USA international is linked elsewhere and the club’s exclusive loan option threatens to run out.

The Gers have been clear they’d like to make the loan of Malik Tillman permanent by exercising an exclusive option in the player’s contract signed during the tenure of Ross Wilson.

But whilst a £5m swoop for the 20-year-old would certainly be a last hurrah from the now Nottingham Forest director, the player’s situation appears less secure by the day.

Not only has Ross Wilson left Rangers, but the sporting director who struck the Malik Tillman loan deal has been sacked by Bayern and Thomas Tuchel is now the club’s manager following the sacking of Julian Nagelsmann.

Malik Tillman Rangers loan option to run out

Currently back at Bayern training after suffering a season-ending injury in the Scottish Cup defeat to Celtic, Malik Tillman has also previously claimed he’ll take his time over any switch.

But in doing so the youngster also let slip that there is an expiry on that loan option which had bought Rangers some security when it comes to Malik Tillman this summer.

The German-born attacker has claimed that a decision has to be taken this month with the Ibrox club’s option-to-buy set to expire in June and the ball very much in the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year’s court.

“The option is until the beginning of June or something so I still have three or four weeks to decide,” said Tillman.

“I’m going to take my time because obviously it’s a big decision for me.”

There is also reports that Bayern could cash in on front three Sadio Mane, Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry after an underwhelming season, meaning there could be room for Tillman to impress.

Add into this that the likes of Premier League Brighton and Brentford are reportedly both interested in Malik Tillman and suddenly Rangers fans are scrambling for their side to activate the £5m loan option.

Having previously been in a position of strength when it came to Malik Tillman, Rangers are now a tad helpless but it’s clear one factor above all else well make an Ibrox move happen, or collapse – and that’s what Malik Tillman wants himself.
