Controversial Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker has marked Alfredo Morelos’ potential exit from Rangers as a “great pity”.

The former Celtic striker also reckons that the Ibrox club will “miss” the Colombian forward if he does leave in the summer.

The surprise comments comes amid much criticism of Alfredo Morelos from Andy Walker, with the Sky Sports pundit accused of inflaming the conversation around the striker in the past.

Walker even slammed the forward back in October last year amid much-publicised weight issues.

“It is a great pity he is going out like this when maybe he isn’t in the best condition,” Andy Walker told GO Radio.

“If you look at Morelos over the last number of years, I think his numbers will be really impressive.

“Rangers will miss him and they need to get someone like him, who they can rely on. I know they have Antonio Colak at the moment.

“But if Morelos goes, then they need someone of a similar stature to ensure a lot of strength up front.”

Andy Walker Alfredo Morelos take comes amid exit talk

The Andy Walker comments come amid much speculation on the future of Alfredo Morelos, who is out of contract in the summer.

Reports of a pre-contract being agreed with Sevilla have been shot down this week, whilst Michael Beale warned the player to buck up his ideas following Scottish Cup victory over Raith Rovers.

“Alfredo’s situation is slightly different,” said Beale [Viaplay].

“He has been at the club for a long time and I need to see a little bit more from Alfredo day in, day out.

“When he’s played when the team has needed him, he’s fine – but I want a bit more energy in the final third.

“Can he provide that? If he can then he’s a better option than what he has been the last few months. Everything I’m saying here has been said to him as well.”

Alfredo Morelos has scored 10 goals in 37 appearances for Rangers this season.

Meanwhile, Ryan Jack has reacted to his latest call up to the Scotland squad.
