Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack has responded on Instagram after a controversial call-up to the Scotland national team squad despite a recent recovery from injury.

The influential Ibrox midfielder, 31, is back in Steve Clarke’s squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers with Cyprus and Spain at Hampden during the upcoming international break.

But the call-up has raised some eyebrows in Rangers circles after comments Michael Beale made about having to manage a recent injury to the midfielder.

Ryan Jack has struggled to find consistent fitness over the last few seasons at Rangers and once again this campaign – which has been defined by injuries across the squad – has seen the ex-Aberdeen star routinely sidelined.

Rangers managing Jacko problem

Playing a starring role in the 4-1 victory over Hibs at Easter Road, the midfielder was then rested for the 3-0 Scottish Cup victory over Raith Rovers.

Rangers manager Michael Beale explained that this was due to the Ibrox side managing the player after niggling injuries and his recent return.

The Ibrox gaffer also waxed lyrical about the player and confirmed that the club are in discussions to keep Jacko in Govan beyond the end of the season.

“Ryan Jack has been a fantastic player for this club since I joined in 2018,” said Michael Beale.

“I had a year away, I’ve come back and he’s been very important to me.

“He had a slight issue with his calf earlier in the month and we’ve had to manage that.

“He did really well in the last two games and we’ve got John to come in today. That’s a lovely strength for us to have, to bring John back into the team.

“Ryan’s a player we want to keep at Rangers longer. Those discussions are happening in the background.”

Ryan Jack Scotland deja vu

Rangers fans are well aware of a run-in between Steve Clarke and Steven Gerrard when it comes to the midfielder in 2019, where Ryan Jack was put through a double Scotland session despite just returning from a problem.

To Ibrox fans, Jack being able to contribute to Rangers is all that matters but from the player’s most recent Instagram story, it appears playing for Scotland is important to him.

The midfielder shared the update of the Scotland National Team squad, as Jack looks to build on his 14 caps for the country.

Meanwhile, Ridvan Yilmaz is getting fans excited on Twitter.
