The U18s suffered a defeat away to St Mirren on Friday night but the U16s fared much better at the Rangers Football Centre on Sunday.

This side netted five times in an eight-goal thriller against Clyde last week and they were potent once again in attack.

Zak Queen, Rory Wilson (2), Callum Sandilands and Adam Forrester all scored against the Buddies in a 5-1 hammering.

A youthful Rangers B team saw less success up against Clyde at Broadwood, though.

The SPFL League One club were completing their pre-season preparations ahead of their League Cup opener against Dumbarton next Saturday and fielded a strong team.

Ross McCausland continued his good start to the season by netting for the visitors, but Clyde ran out 3-1 winners.

Rangers finished the game with seven U18s on the pitch, including Nathan Young-Coombes, who had been linked with a move away from the club earlier in the summer.

Scotland U21 international Glenn Middleton started the game alongside Dapo Mebude, while highly-rated 16-year-old centre-back Leon King also made the XI.

Meanwhile, two Rangers loanees impressed with encouraging displays for Partick Thistle against Hearts on Friday.
