Rangers have offered Alex Lowry a £5k per week contracts to stay at Ibrox, as the Gers try to convince the leading Scottish youth talent his future lies in Glasgow.

That’s according to Football Insider, who claim the Ibrox side want to tie the 18-year-old midfielder down until 2025.

Scotland U19s talent Alex Lowry broke through into the Gers side this season and has looked every inch the talent that Rangers are known to recognise him as.

A graceful, elegant footballer with an eye for a pass and the ability to shoot from range, Alex Lowry has already captured the hearts of Rangers fans and now the club hope to capture his future.

The Ibrox youngster’s current deal expires at the end of next season so it is in Rangers’ best interests to sort out a contract sooner rather than later.

Football Insider claim that Alex Lowry has already rejected one offer from Rangers with the club returning with improved terms, worth a total of £780k over three seasons.

If the news is accurate Rangers fans will be glad to hear that the club are moving to sign up Alex Lowry, who is currently sidelined with an unexplained injury.

The news also comes amid interest in another Rangers talent in teenage striker Rory Wilson, with a host of Premier League clubs said to be rivalling the Gers for his signature.

Rangers quite simply cannot compete with the riches on offer down south but what they can do is demonstrate a clear pathway into the first team and offer something many sides in England cannot.

Rangers are a unique sell to any player and let’s hope that Alex Lowry signs on the dotted line and can go on to become a first-team regular in the seasons to come.

So far, Alex Lowry has made four appearances for Rangers, with one coming against Livingston in the Premiership and the other three coming in the Scottish Cup.

The youngster also netted his first Rangers goal in the 4-0 win over Stirling Albion at the turn of the year.

Alex Lowry has also been a stand-out performer in the B Team this season and recently stole the show in a thumping win over their Celtic counterparts.
