Rangers ended the transfer window still short of a player or two with Philippe Clement knowing full well that he still has work to do.
The squad looks younger and more dynamic with the manager putting into place a proper player trading model drawn up by Nils Koppen.
There was always a one in, one out policy throughout the summer but when Clement hinted that Rangers could entertain strengthening via the free agent market, it raised hopes of more transfers.

Rangers trialist mystery sees fan media confirmation
No names have been mentioned, however, when the B team featured a trialist wearing number five, tongues started wagging.
The first rumour was Joel Matip, then it was Brandon Williams, the latter having been linked before.
Clement has already approached the subject of signing a left-back though which all but ruled out signing the former Man Utd “brave as a lion” full-back.
Neraysho Kasanwirjo arrived at Ibrox after Ben Davies departed for Birmingham City and has played regularly at centre-half.
The 22-year old made his debut at right-back and he will probably be seen there more often if James Tavernier’s poor form continues.
As a versatile player, Rangers have adequate cover in the middle of the defence.
So, who was the mysterious trialist?
As, yet, no names have been announced but Stevie Clifford from the Four Lads Had a Dream blog updated fans on X confirming that it wasn’t Williams or Matip and that it was a young prospect instead.

Various reports from fans who were at Auchenhowie were impressed with the young centre-half, unfortunately, he wasn’t the much-needed number six that Clement hinted could be signed:
“We talked about that in the club and that was the initial plan,” Clement said on signing a deep-lying midfielder.
“So we need to now find solutions within the squad to do that, in a different way to before.
“Connor Barron is filling that role. Dujon Sterling can fill that role. Nico Raskin can fill that role. But it’s in a different way to Lunny.
“We don’t need to play in the same way we did last season. It’s about what suits the qualities of the squad best. And we’re going to find solutions for that.”
Clinton Nsiala partnered the trialist with the former AC Milan academy defender continuing to adapt to playing at a new club, the France youth cap has yet to make a senior appearance for Rangers first team.
Given how young they looked, it would appear that the unknown number five is a potential academy signing, rather than one for the first team.
