Philippe Clement had a difficult summer for a variety of reasons and, for all that he is still under pressure, things are starting to look brighter for Rangers.

The emergence of Hamza Igamane as a match winner, the return to fitness and form of Danilo and Nicolas Raskin becoming the dominant midfield fans hopes he could be all give the manager something to build on.

What could he even more important, is the role of Ianis Hagi in a squad that is short of leadership and experience of winning at Rangers despite the playmaker being close to the Ibrox exit in the summer.

Ianis Hagi talks Rangers and of Fiorentina return

Speaking to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni for Gianluca Di Marzio, Hagi has been been reflecting on life in the shadow of a footballing legend, he has also been talking about a return to the club where he made his first high profile move/ Fiorentina:

“The eighteen months at Fiorentina were crucial for my growth: I played only two games in the first team, but it was the life and football experience in which I learned the most,” declared Hagi.

“It helped me understand who I am. A good relationship has born with the fans: they still write to me with affection and they want to come back.

“Would I think about it? Now I’m fine in Glasgow, I love the Rangers and I’ve won many trophies here. Then in football you never know: of course Florence will always have a special place in my heart”.

Could Rangers still sell Hagi?

Hagi insisted that he wanted to stay at Rangers in the summer, however, the 26-year old playmaker has always been open about starring in one of Europe’s top leagues.

The AGM’s revelation of only £800,000 being made from the sales of five high profile players proved that there weren’t exorbitant demands being made for the players who Nils Koppen wanted off the wage bill.

Still, there were no takers for a player who had done so well in the summer’s European Championships.

With a shortage of offers, the 42-cap international has realised the platform that he has to showcase his talents in the famous Light Blue shirt.

Now with a point to prove, Hagi has been instrumental in Rangers return to form with four assists in four games and Clement couldn’t be happier.

The next problem is that his form is so good, Rangers might not be able to afford to keep him.

Having said to have agreed personal terms with Fiorentina in the summer, could a return to Italy see Hagi’s career go full circle?
