A report in the Daily Record, has suggested that Rangers are looking to bring Craig Bryson to Ibrox.

The 32-year-old former Scotland international is nearing the end of his contract at Derby. Consequently, it’s said that the Gers could snap him up for free this month.

However, as we covered last night, this would seem like a strange move.

Unless, of course, his arrival was to offset an imminent departure.

Ross McCrorie is reportedly a major target for Swansea City. He has made 18 appearances for the Gers this season, particularly impressing in the lead up to the winter break.

Yet, Steven Davis’ arrival could reduce the youngster’s playing time significantly.

There are already a lot of options in central midfield, so surely Gerrard wouldn’t be looking to bring in an extra body without someone going the other way.

Last night, reputable source, Four Lads Had a Dream, went against the Record, to suggest there was to be no move for Bryson.

It remains to be seen whether this is something the club is actively pursuing.

Surely, though, it would be a disappointing trade-off.

McCrorie is a young, home-grown player with bags of potential, while Bryson would just bring more of what we already have.
