Ianis Hagi’s Rangers future seems to have been in a constant state of flux for some time now.

Able to end his exile from the first-team after his contract dispute had been resolved, Hagi has been praised for his attitude while with the Gers B team and also his form since returning.

He now appears to be a key figure for Philippe Clement now and was a big part of the recent return to form for the side before Boxing Day’s disastrous bump back down to earth at St Mirren.

However, it would appear that doesn’t mean a longer stay at Ibrox is guaranteed.

Clubs reportedly remain interested and the playmaker seems to be constantly told by people back in Romanians to make a move away from Glasgow.

And some reports are now suggesting one clubs is getting closer to making that happen.

Reports suggest Genoa are ‘very close’ to Hagi

Ianis Hagi is back in the Rangers team and performing well after his exile, which frustrated the player and the club’s fans.

Before his return, Philippe Clement had explained that his Gers future had been sorted out after the issue which kept him sidelined was fixed.

However, that doesn’t stop interested parties from coming in and attempting to cut short his stay anyway.

Most recently, Serie A side Genoa have been linked with a swoop for Hagi after they were taken over by Romanian businessman Dan Sucu, who previously tried to sign the player for Rapid Bucharest.

Prior to that, Borussia Monchengladbach were named as potential suitors of the Rangers ace.

It is now being suggested that Genoa are the ones closing in on the 26-year-old.

Reports from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, via Ibrox News, claim that the Italians are “very close” in their attempts to sign Hagi in January.

The Romanian is said to be a primary transfer target of his countryman Sucu.

What Adrian Mutu has said on a Rangers exit for Hagi

Mutu reckons Hagi would settle in quickly in Italy after a previous stint there with Fiorentina.

He told Romanian press, as reported by the National: “I believe Ianis Hagi would quickly establish himself at Genoa if he agreed on his personal terms and they could reach a transfer fee deal with Rangers.

“Ianis went straight to Serie A after making his debut in League 1 at Farul. Of course, he also knows Italian. He knows the country so he can adapt quickly.

“Ianis is a valuable player. What does he need? Confidence and continuity in development, I think that’s what Ianis needs at the moment.”
