Rangers star Calvin Bassey put in a Man of the Match display in the Europa League Final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt – and now West Ham are said to be sniffing around.
The Gers were said to have pipped both the Hammers and Bayer Leverkusen to sign the ex-Leicester City kid last season [Express] and his progress in this campaign has been evident.

According to West Ham insider Ex-WHUEmployee – speaking to the 4th Official – West Ham are one of “several” Premier League clubs interested in the Gers star.
But given his age, the length of his contract (until 2024) and the fact he is English trained, the report claims that it will take “obscene” money to tempt Rangers.
That apparently hasn’t stopped West Ham “starting talks” with the Ibrox side regarding Calvin Bassey.
“I have been told by several reliable sources that several Premier League clubs including “West Ham United are interested in the services of Calvin Bassey,” reads the 4th Official Patreon account.
“The defender is under contract until 2024 so it is going to take an obscene amount of money to tempt Rangers.
“The player caught the eye of the world with his performances but the interest from West Ham United in the left back turned centre half was there from before the Europa League final.
“Apparently, the interest has been amped up since the final with West Ham starting talks with Rangers for the defender.”
West Ham amongst ‘several” tailing Rangers’ Calvin Bassey
Still only 22, at the moment there’s a feeling that the Nigerian international is the asset in the Rangers squad as he combines pace, power, passion and a strong ability on the ball to leave a defensive impression every time he plays.
A versatile wing-back, Calvin Bassey has excelled at centre-back this season and being a left-footer is something that may well appeal to many clubs.
There was a feeling that links would intensify quickly after Calvin Bassey’s Europa League Final appearance and that’s what has happened here with West Ham.

There are a few other nonsense sounding rumours doing the rounds – primarily with Premier League newsboys Fulham – but we’re sure the prices being banded about in these circles will raise a laugh in Ross Wilson’s office.
Still with two years remaining on his Rangers deal, if West Ham do come in for the versatile defender they will need to stump up as Calvin Bassey continues to impress at Ibrox.
The Ibrox star’s Europa League contribution has also been recognised by UEFA alongside side two fellow Rangers standouts.
