Alfredo Morelos is, finally, back in proper training at Santos after a near four-month summer break.

He will have to be up to speed quickly if he is to drag the Serie A side up Brazil’s top flight though with his new side languishing in 17th place on the table.

The early signs are that Alfredo Morelos isn’t as far away from playing for Santos as you might think with training videos showing the striker looking more like his athletic best, via Santos’ social media.

Alfredo Morelos looks sharp for Santos already

The training video might only be a short couple of clips with Alfredo Morelos shooting and crossing but he looks keen to impress his new Santos teammates.

At his best, he was unstoppable.

But, when he couldn’t be bothered, it was like playing with 10 men.

Capable of the sublime and the ridiculous in the same game, Alfredo Morelos was rarely an invisible figure and Santos fans will never have a dull day with El Bufalo at the club.

It is a sad indictment of the way his time at Rangers ended though that a move to a Premier League club or one of the other top five leagues has never materialised – even on a free transfer.

With 182 goal contributions in 269 appearances, the Colombian international’s numbers stand up against all but the most prolific of Rangers strikers.

Michael Beale spent a lot of money to replace Morelos and he will be hoping that Danilo and Cyriel Dessers can hit the sort of form that made their predecessor a fans’ favourite.

He was written off early days too, although, what Rangers signing isn’t?!
