‘Upset’ Rangers target flashpoint should be red flag for Nils Koppen amid Ibrox links

Rangers are taking a new approach to recruitment under Nils Koppen with Philippe Clement being given players from across the globe to work with.

A modified player trading model added to an established presence at TransferRoom conferences means that new markets are being explored to bring players to Ibrox with the hope of establishing a title winning squad.

The manager is full on board and the latest name to be linked is Chilean wing sensation Dario Osorio who, currently at Midtjylland, might be pushing Rangers budget.

Dario Osorio red flag as Rangers face uphill transfer battle

Despite his obvious talent, the winger has also displayed the sort of red flag that saw Alfredo Morelos fall foul to Scottish officials looking for a scape goat.

Playing against Randers and 2-1 down, Osorio flashed at opposite number Florian Danho and kicked out, yellow became red with the assistance of VAR leaving Midtjylland manager Thomas Thomasberg none too pleased, as reported by dr.dk:

“Dario must learn from it, because there is no reason to risk getting into that situation, both that we play outnumbered, but also that he now has to sit out in two super league games.

“Of course we have to avoid them, and therefore it is an unnecessary red card. Fortunately, we came away with a point, but of course it is something we talk about and articulate. I also did that after the match.

“Dario is of course upset and annoyed that he has to sit and have brought the team into trouble. Fortunately, we once again showed strength and character and got points out of a match which, after 70 minutes, looked like it was going to be lost.”

Rangers isn’t the place for a hot head

Rangers fans know all too well how quickly red cards will be dealt out to those in Light Blue.

Morelos once got red card for celebrating, Andy Halliday too and let’s not forget Daniel Candeias going for an early bath because he blew a kiss and got strangled by Anton Ferdinand.

It’s one thing being firey and competitive, it’s another entirely to lose your temper and Rangers is no place for those who can’t control theirs.

With Premier League clubs also said to be competing for Osorio’s signature, Rangers chances of signing the Chile international winger are already remote.

At 20-years old, he still has a lot to learn, however, any red flags on a player’s file can’t be ignored by Koppen and his team – especially if they are going to cost more than £10m.
