A late Bournemouth move for Rangers-linked Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell has collapsed on Deadline Day.

The Cherries had already had two bids rejected for the 27-year-old Man United kid heading into the final day of the transfer window.

After raising the bid to £3.5m – with Joe Rothwell out of contract come the end of the season – Lancashire Live confirm Scott Parker’s team were set to get their man.

But that report claims that the move has collapsed with Rothwell set to stay at Blackburn Rovers and aid their own Premier League promotion charge.

This is because Bournemouth have turned their attentions to Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore as they hope to reach the jackpot of the English top tier.

Joe Rothwell once described as “almost certain” to join Rangers

Rangers have been extensively linked to Joe Rothwell in the past with journalist Alan Nixon linking the Gers in October last year.

The Rangers links were so strong that a Football League World report claimed that Joe Rothwell was “almost certain” to move to Ibrox when his contract expired at the end of the campaign.

But this was when the club was under the management of Steven Gerrard and since then Rangers have scarcely been mentioned alongside the Blackburn Rovers star.

Rangers have also appeared to tun their attentions elsewhere – for January at least – as the club reportedly close in on a deal for Aaron Ramsey.

The Welsh international is set to move to Rangers on a loan-to-buy deal in a statement signing from the Gers that has been confirmed by some high-profile journalists.

No harm to Joe Rothwell, but Rangers fans will be delighted to have secured a footballer with the pedigree of Ramsey with the deal expected to be announced imminently.

But a move for the Welshman isn’t the only transfer being eyed at Rangers today, with one signing already confirmed by the Gers.
