Rangers’ transfer window might’ve been largely cold all winter long, but on Deadline Day things have heated up as Ross Wilson makes Mateusz Zukowski his first official move of the day.
Heading into Deadline Day Rangers had added the loan signings of young American internationalist James Sands and £39m Man United kid Amad Diallo.
But still licking their wounds after the weekend’s 3-3 draw with Ross County, Rangers fans turned their attentions to the final day of the window and potential reinforcements.
Young Polish international U21 Mateusz Zukowski, 20, joins from Lechia Gdansk on a three-and-a-half-year deal and replaces Nathan Patterson, who left for Everton in a deal which could potentially rise to £16m [Sky Sports].
Joining on an “undisclosed fee”, Zukowski has been branded “quality” by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst whilst Ross Wilson claims the kid has “high potential”.
“I am delighted to join Rangers and to make this next step in my career,” said Zukowski [Rangers].
“I have been so impressed with everything I have seen and heard about Rangers and to join a club of this size is fantastic for me.
“I look forward to meeting my teammates and to making my debut in front of the supporters as soon as I can.”
Mateusz Zukowski won’t be only Rangers Deadline Day signing
Rangers continue to make major moves in the transfer market and Mateusz Zukowski will likely not be the only body coming into Ibrox today.
Unless you’ve hiding under a rock, you’ll know Rangers are closing in on a move for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey with some journalists already claiming the deal is “done”.
And if the 31-year-old Welsh international midfielder wasn’t enough to get you excited, there’s always those links to Hearts star John Souttar.
Rangers reportedly had a second bid rejected for the defender but are yet to return for a move as things stand.
However, with Champions League qualification on the line and the defence failing to impress, is a move for the Tynecastle star a sensible one?
