Tom Davies has refused the offer of a new contract from Everton, however, interest from Rangers appears to be little more than paper talk.
The 24-year old won’t be short of offers, however, given Michael Beale’s recruitment in his two transfer windows, a swoop for the Premier League midfielder is unlikely.
This hasn’t stopped TalkSport from reporting that Tom Davies is a Rangers target after previous interest in January.

There is one small issue with this report despite Talksport claiming “Davies is now looking for a new club, with Rangers among those interested in a move”.
Why Tom Davies won’t be leaving Everton to join Rangers
Michael Beale, categorically, denied any link with Tom Davies in January when he was struggling for game time at Everton.
When asked about speculation concerning Davies and Todd Cantwell, in January this is what he said:
“And Tom Davies, he used to kick my Liverpool Under-23s team all around the place. There’s a bit of John Lundstram about him. But again, two really good players. Not confirming anything with those two. But there’s a lot of players we are speaking to at the moment.”
Nothing about wanting the player or even any subtle hints, just that he thinks Davies is a good player and is aware of him from his time working at Liverpool.
Shortly after this initial interview, the Gers gaffer sought to clarify his remarks when asked again about the England Under-21 international:
“There’s been no interest from us in Tom Davies. I spoke about him when asked but he won’t be a Rangers player.”
That’s pretty unambiguous.

There are a few reasons why Tom Davies, after leaving Everton on a free transfer, would make sense for Rangers, however, there are 10 reasons why it doesn’t.
John Lundstram, Nicolas Raskin, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara and Steven Davis all remain on the wage bill.
Then there are Todd Cantwell, Kieran Dowell, Alex Lowry, Ianis Hagi and Tom Lawrence who can all play deeper roles too.
This is before we consider Jose Cifuentes reported imminent arrival or Tom Davies’s most recent Everton wage of a reported £39,000 per week.
Good player, as Beale rightly said, but Rangers interest has never been as concrete as claimed in this report.
Don’t you just love the transfer window?
