Rangers have been desperate in their attempts to move players on so that funds are freed up to bring in new recruits.
It’s been the message for much of the past month with Robin Propper’s arrival on August 1 being the last recruit to raise a red, white and blue scarf in the air at Ibrox.
Philippe Clement had told the press repeatedly that he wouldn’t be able to sign new players unless others from the Rangers squad are sold or sent out on loan.
Thankfully, that process was kicked into motion this week when Ben Davies completed a loan move to Birmingham City with Scott Wright also moving to St Andrew’s on Friday morning.
Rangers then signed Neraysho Kasanwirjo on loan from Feyenoord while Sassuolo’s Nedim Bajrami could yet join today before 11pm tonight.
But Rangers have announced another outgoing and thankfully, it’s Todd Cantwell to Blackburn Rovers.

Todd Cantwell completes Rangers exit
Cantwell has completed a £500k move to the EFL Championship side, leaving Rangers after 19 months in Govan. He has signed a three-year contract at Ewood Park.
Rangers and Blackburn Rovers both confirmed the news on their X accounts, with the English outfit dropping this video to announce the signing.
Cantwell saga finally meets an end
Cantwell was brought to Rangers by Michael Beale in January 2023 and became a favourite amongst the fans across the latter part of that season.
His creativity and eye for goal was very much welcomed and it seemed certain he would play a key role for the club in the years to come.
But when Clement replaced Beale in October the following season, things started to go downhill for the playmaker in Govan.
And that came to a head in the summer when Clement announced at a press conference in July that Cantwell had handed in a transfer request.
Cantwell was rightly bombed from the first-team and hasn’t even been training with the B-team, unlike his fellow outcast Ianis Hagi.
It was then a matter of finding a suitor for Cantwell with Blackburn Rovers being his eventual destination after a £600k fee was agreed on Thursday.
Cantwell’s behaviour disrespected the club and it’s safe to assume he won’t be missed by one single Rangers supporter.
