Rangers transfer window fizzled out after a deadline day that promised so much at one stage.
Failing to sign a number six and another winger could cost Philippe Clement if injuries hit a squad that is already questionable in terms of the quality needed to win the league.
What the Rangers boss has also done is hint his transfer business might not be finished.
Three winger options after Rangers miss out on Samuel Edozie
After missing out on Samuel Edozie in the last minutes of the transfer window, the Old Firm derby highlighted again the problem with depth.
Here are three wingers that are still available as free agents to give Clement less of a selection headache.
The first one is a name who some Rangers might remember being linked in January 2023.
Alexi Pitu
In January 2023, Alexi Pitu was starring for Farul Constanta, the Romanian side of Gheorghe Hagi, and even went as far as commenting on speculation surrounding a move to Rangers and the chance to play with Hagi Jnr:
“Yes, I would very much love to play with Ianis again, but first I want to win the title with Farul Constanta,” said Alexi Pitu.
“I focus on football, I do my training and in the matches, I try to give my best. I understand the interest in playing with Ianis at Rangers and of course, it would be very nice.
“But I’m still a Farul player and I need to concentrate only on the important matches we have coming up this season.”
Pitu ended up joining Bordeaux, however, the French outfit’s financial problems now see the 22-year old without a club and available for free.
Kristijan Lovric
Capped by Croatia, the 28-year old has just been released by NK Osijek and is looking for a new club.
Despite never spending any time outside of his senior career out of his homeland, Lovric has promising numbers.
With 112 goals and assists in 212 games, the versatile 6ft forward is capable of playing anywhere behind a striker and still contributing to the forward line’s output.
Something that a few of the players under Philippe Clement just arent.
Achraf Bencharki
With experience of football in France, 29-year old Morocco international Bencharki offers the ability to play almost anywhere in the final third.
With 75 goals and assists in 141 games as a left winger and 18 in 26 as a centre forward, Bencharki has produced the goods consistently throughout his career spent mainly in Egypt and Morocco.
He has won individual and team awards on the way and would represent an experienced back up option who knows where the goal is.
Rangers can’t keep plodding from one derby to the next with the same faces missing the same chances.
The question is, will Philippe Clement do anything about it.
