Sunderland are lining up a bid for Northern Irish talent Charlie Lindsay amid reports that Rangers B team midfielder could be about to leave the club.
The Daily Record have named the Black Cats alongside Derby County as potential Charlie Lindsay suitors as the midfielder prepares to leave Rangers at the end of his contract.

The story claims that seven high-profile youngsters are set to leave the club with Lindsay joined by Tony Weston, Lewis Mackinnon, Alex Kpapke, Kelsey Ewen, Harley Ewen and Kevin Ciubotaru.
But those links to Sunderland are especially interesting for Charlie Lindsay, who joined Rangers from Linfield in April 2020 and since then impressed in flashes in the youth set up.
Without knowing the details of the situation, and especially given Lindsay was widely regarded as a major talent coming out of Northern Ireland, perhaps game-time is in his sights amid talk of a potential exit.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been unable to break through into the Rangers first-team whilst teammates such as Alex Lowry, Cole McKinnon and Bailey Rice have.
Sunderland chasing promotion amid Charlie Lindsay links
Interestingly, Sunderland also have their eye on a return to the Premier League this season and they’re being led by the inspired form of ex-Ger Amad Diallo on Wearside.
The Stadium of Light side currently lead Luton 2-1 form their first leg of the Championship playoffs, with the winner of that tie favourites to go on and beat Middlesbrough or Coventry at Wembley.
It might be ambitious to suggest Charlie Lindsay could go from the Rangers B team into the Sunderland first-team, especially if they earn Premier League promotion, but it’s clear the Championship side are a club on the up.
Perhaps a move to Sunderland will have Charlie Lindsay finding his feet out on loan somewhere in the English Football League but whatever happens there will be a question of what-if from his time at Rangers.
