Rangers have been heavily linked with Vitesse star Million Manhoef but he is now on the verge of a deadline day move to Stoke City.

The Gers have added two signings so far this window with Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande arriving.

Lens winger Oscar Cortes is set to have his loan move to Rangers confirmed and any more arrivals on deadline day would be seen as a bonus.

Cortes arriving means Rangers are unlikely to go for another winger and that means Million Manhoef will not be arriving at Ibrox…

Rangers target Million Manhoef set for Stoke City move

Reports over New Year suggested that a £2.5million move was in the pipeline for Rangers with Manhoef becoming a prime target.

Nils Koppen’s arrival from PSV Eindhoven was always likely to bring speculation surrounding Eredivisie talents heading to Ibrox.

Manhoef certainly fit the bill as a right-sided winger who could make a real impact in the final third.

The diminutive left-footer has hit four goals in 18 games for a struggling Vitesse side this season, showing pace and trickery on the flanks.

Rangers fans would surely have loved to see Manhoef in the famous blue shirt but he is now heading to England instead.

Dutch reporter Jeroen Kapteijns – from the newspaper De Telegraaf – reports that Manhoef is joining Championship side Stoke City on deadline day.

It’s noted that Italian side Palermo wanted Manhoef and Hellas Verona were ‘seriously interested’ earlier in the window.

Stoke have now pounced and will be paying around €4million (£3.4million) to bring Manhoef to England, slightly more than the fee mentioned with the Rangers rumour.

Rangers appear to have prioritised Cortes over Manhoef and only time will tell whether the Gers have made the right choice as the ‘explosive’ Manhoef looks to make a name for himself in England.
