Rangers have been linked with a series of players in this transfer window, including some who have been at the club before, although former loanee Joe Worrall hasn’t been one of them.

Brought to Ibrox to join Steven Gerrard’s squad in 2019, the Nottingham Forest centre-half has had an eventful few years.

So much so, that the former club captain is now said to be close to leaving with The Sun’s Alan Nixon revealing how much ex-Rangers defender Joe Worrall is going to cost.

Former Rangers loanee Joe Worrall attracting interest

Writing on Patreon, Nixon has claimed that Leeds United and Sheffield United are interested in the 27-year old.

Worrall had an inconsistent time at Rangers in that, he could put in man of the match displays in Europe or against Celtic before costing us the game against teams like Kilmarnock.

Yes, he was only 21 at the time, but so was Nikola Katic

The big Croatian wasn’t perfect but he was our player and his heart was in the right place.

Worrall on the other hand had no intention of trying to impress Gerrard enough to persuade him to make Forest an offer.

It would appear that after his time at Rangers, Joe Worrall didn’t learn his lesson in terms of knowing what to say and when to say it.

As skipper of the Forest team that got promoted and was then, relatively comfortable in the Premier League, he was a key figure and seemed set to spend as long as he wanted at the club.

A falling out behind the scenes that has also seen Rangers-linked Scott McKenna leave the City Ground, means that his future now lies elsewhere.

Once the subject of £10m interest, Forest are now looking for around £6m according to Nixon.

In terms of modern football and English prices, it’s not a big price tag for someone with Worrall’s experience.

As a player who never seemed to be far from the headlines, it looks like there are more chapters to write.
