Rangers’ loan signings have been received with a mixed reception, but one in particular doesn’t have his sights on a permanent deal at Ibrox.
Joe Worrall has come into the side in recent weeks ahead of Nikola Katic. 10 Rangers appearances to his name may sound decent, but supporters aren’t overly enthused. Many still believe Katic is the better defender, but remain hopeful that Worrall will come good.
Where the likes of Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria have been flying, Worrall has been struggling. Despite that, there’s clear potential in the centre-back as he continues to get regular game-time these days.

Unfortunately, however, it doesn’t seem as if the on-loan Nottingham Forest man shares that enthusiasm. Speaking in the Herald today, Worrall wasn’t too open about his Rangers future.
“Forest is my team, they employ me and pay my wages. It’s a loan for me. I’m really enjoying it here, and I thank the gaffer for playing me in the games. I’m here until the end of the season, so hopefully you’ll see a lot more from me and what I can do.
“It’s obviously nice that the manager says things like that (hoping he stays), but I’m on loan from Forest.”
How big a loss would he be?
Unless there’s a big improvement in him between now and the end of the season, would Worrall truly be a big loss? The partnership of Connor Goldson and Katic looked a lot more solid than the one between Goldson and Worrall.
Rangers didn’t let anything get past them against St Mirren, but that was only down to Allan McGregor’s heroics. The Rangers goalkeeper certainly sees plenty of action with the partnership in front of him struggling to convince.

We all know Goldson is a solid centre-back. He’s proving a very shrewd buy from Rangers, and will continue to play a big part this season. Worrall, however, isn’t offering that same promise.
Whilst he hasn’t ruled out a permanent switch to Ibrox, it clearly isn’t on his list of priorities. Rangers first and foremost need players that want to be there for the long-term. Those who are non-committal shouldn’t be given a second thought.
It would certainly be more of a blow for Rangers fans if the likes of Kent and Ejaria didn’t want to return. For Worrall? Unless he improves drastically, he won’t be too big a loss.
