St Johnstone have officially signed Rangers supporting midfielder Charlie Gilmour on a short-term deal, months after his departure from Norwich City [Perthstjohnstone.co.uk].
Gilmour came up through the ranks at Arsenal and made his senior Gunners debut in the Europa League in 2018, but was released by the Premier League giants the following year.

He subsequently joined then top-flight club Norwich City on a two-year deal but was unable to break into Daniel Farke’s side and despite a relatively productive loan stint with Telstar in the Netherlands last season, his Canaries contract was terminated by mutual consent in October.
The Scotland youth international has made no secret of his love for Rangers on social media and some supporters have urged the club to swoop for him in the past.
However, no offer arrived from Ibrox and after a lengthy spell as a free agent, St Johnstone took him on trial.
Saints boss Callum Davidson recently admitted that Gilmour had ‘lost his way a bit’ but praised his physicality and technical ability [Herald] and now he’s officially added the 21-year-old to his squad.
The defensive midfielder has signed a deal until the end of the season and is raring to go at McDiarmid Park.
“I’m delighted to sign for St. Johnstone and I’m just excited to get started and get back into a routine,” said Gilmour [Perthstjohnstonefc.co.uk].
“It’s an opportunity to play in a good league and obviously with my connection to Scotland being half-Scottish makes it an exciting move for me personally.
“It’s exciting as a player to come to St. Johnstone. The club has been getting great results recently to move up the table and obviously, there’s a cup final to come.”
Another Premiership club is reportedly close to pulling off the late loan signing of a player who spent the second half of the 2019/20 season at Ibrox.
