Premier League Tottenham Hotspur are leading the chase to sign £10m-rated Israeli wonderkid Oscar Gloukh amid conflicting reports regarding interest from Rangers.

That’s according to the Sunday Mirror (10/7; page 74) who are claiming that Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Rangers and Roma are all tailing the kid.

It’s not the first time Rangers have been linked to the player either with the 19-year-old Maccabi Tel Aviv attacking midfielder lighting up the recent U19 European Championships.

The youngster led Israel to the Final of the Championships where they were eventually beaten 3-1 by England but Oscar Gloukh made a startling impression on the tournament.

Now some of Europe’s top clubs are said to be tailing the kid but Rangers interest in the Israeli talent was rubbished about as quickly as it first appeared.

Rangers were first mentioned as being interested in Oscar Gloukh by Israel-based Ibrox podcaster Andy Barnett on Heart & Hand’s Transfer Show.

Barnett claimed Rangers were one of more than 40 clubs who’d watched Israel – and by proxy Oscar Gloukh – at the tournament.

“I can tell you that apparently Rangers scouts were in my home,” said Andy Barnett.

“That’s along with scouts of over 40 teams at the Israel Austria U19 game, which Israel won 4-2.

“They were meant to be looking at Oscar Gloukh, who I’ve seen play in person and is an absolutely superbly talented youngster, a wonderkid.

“He came on for Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the final third of the season and was just the best player in the league in the final third.

“He scored against Macabbi Haifa and Hapoel Tel-Aviv which are the two biggest games and there was meant to be clubs from La Liga as well as Rangers looking at him last night.

“I tried to find out exactly who was here but all I heard there was scouts from over 40 clubs and they could’ve been looking at someone else but he’s the one they’re all talking about here.”

However, these claims were quickly dispelled in the press as conflicting reports claimed Rangers aren’t interested in the youngster after all.

Rangers Review writer Jonny McFarlane took to Twitter to claim that Rangers have “no interest whatsoever” in Oscar Gloukh.

Meanwhile, Rangers continue to be linked to a series of players in the summer transfer window but do appear to have missed out on one reported, high-profile target.
