American journalist Tom Bogert has been at the heart of a few Rangers stories in recent seasons.
The man who broke Rangers’ interest in NYC star James Sands, Bogert was also first to break Ibrox interest in LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
More recently the American also tipped Rangers to strike a deal for young midfielder Alexander Smith.
So it’s fair to say the journalist has solid contacts across the soccer world in the USA and MLS.
Bogert got fans speculating over the future of ex-Rangers start Scott Arfield when he claimed that the midfielder had missed training with Charlotte FC.
This was allegedly with a view to moving back to the UK.
Since the original story broke, Bogert has returned to social media platform X to claim that the midfielder will in fact be joining Bolton Wanderers.

Scott Arfield might be 35-years-old but it’s clear the ex-Rangers midfielder still has plenty to offer.
Coming through at Falkirk as a kid, Arfield went on to spend eight years playing in England between Huddersfield Town and Burnley.
Enjoying several seasons in the Premier League with the Clarets, the box-to-box midfielder has been a solid, dependable and effective option no matter where he’s played.
But the return to the UK will come as a surprise to many with Arfield a key player for Charlotte FC even this season.
Bolton Wanderers have had well-publicised financial difficulties in recent years and the ex-Rangers star will believe he can contribute to the club’s resurgence.
Rangers fans will be keeping an eye out for the midfield’s icon salute celebration with Arfield still highly thought-of in Glasgow.
The midfielder made 233 appearances for the Gers, scoring 43 goals.
