Ryan Jack offered to European club as Kemar Roofe tipped to follow Rangers duo

It came as no surprise when Rangers released Ryan Jack and Kemar Roofe from their contracts this summer.

Whilst both have served the club when afforded the opportunity, disastrous runs of injury issues over the last three seasons made a new contract for either player a non-starter.

It is certainly a shame – Ryan Jack is a Scotland international who under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard developed into amongst the club’s finest midfielders of recent seasons.

The situation with Kemar Roofe – a talented, ruthless, technical striker who has ability levels beyond Scotland – hamstrung Rangers for years.

No pun intended.

Amongst five players who were released at the end of their Rangers contracts, there’s been updates on both players as they look to restart their careers.

Jack ‘offered’ to European club

At 32-years-old, Ryan Jack might’ve been expected to find a home in Scotland following a seven-year stint at Rangers.

But after Jack posted an emotional exit message on Instagram, perhaps pulling on another club’s colours in Scotland would be too much this summer.

Whatever the case, interestingly Jack’s name has cropped up in Belgian football with Standard Liege reportedly offered the ex-Rangers star’s services.

But according to DH Net, the Belgian side have turned down the opportunity to sign Ryan Jack despite any proposal.

Whilst we’re not sure what this means for Ryan Jack’s prospects, it’s interesting to see the midfielder being offered on the continent and his next move may well be an exciting one.

The challenge – as always – will be staying fit.

Ex-Rangers striker on Turkish shortlist

Kemar Roofe is another who is on the hunt for a new club after leaving Rangers this summer.

With injury problems drastically impacting the striker’s ability to get minutes for Rangers in recent seasons the £4.5m transfer of the hitman is tinged with pain.

Rangers had a genuinely talented player in the ex-Leeds forward but a failure to get Roofe fit cost the Ibrox club domestically and in Europe over the last few years.

Now, it’s being claimed that Roofe could be about to follow John Lundstram and Borna Barisic to Turkey.

Whilst the Gers pair moved to Trabzonspor, it’s being claimed that Roofe is a target for Super Lig rivals Sivasspor.

According to Fanatik, the Turkish club are exploring the idea of adding Kemar to their squad for next season.
