Sam Lammers didn’t fly with Rangers to the Netherlands.
And now one of the Dutch clubs linked to a summer move for the attacker won’t be buying him a ticket back to Holland either.
Lammers wasn’t in the Rangers training squad number that flew back to his homeland this week as doubts mount over his suitability for life at Ibrox.
It comes as Rangers prepare to cut their losses with the 27-year-old striker despite an explosive second half of the season in the Eredivisie.
Now, Sam Lammers is at a transfer crossroads as temporary club Utrecht officially end their interest ahead of the new season.
But not for the want of trying.

Lammers move ‘financially unfeasible’
Utrecht had already added a new striker this summer when the Eredivisie side plumped up to buy David Min from RKC Waalwijk.
But with the Utrecht hierarchy insisting they wanted a return for Lammers this summer, it was never going to be the only striker signing they made this window.
Admitting that wages were a sticking point in the Utrecht hunt for Lammers, the Eredivisie side’s interest in the 11-goal attacker has slowly weaned.
Reports had spread regarding a transfer swoop for Dutch U21 striker Noah Ohio and now one leading Dutch outlet is claiming the pursuit has ended links to the for-sale Rangers star.
Voetbal Zone claim that after Utrecht’s move for Ohio was confirmed, the striker will ‘succeed’ Sam Lammers at the Eredivisie side.
The report claims that whilst Rangers striker Lammers was Utrecht’s number one choice in the market, the transfer was ‘financially unfeasible’.
Rangers wait on striker exit
Sam Lammers might be on the way out of Rangers, but it will not be to Utrecht.
It might not be to anywhere if the Dutchman’s agents can’t get someone to both cough up the necessary transfer fee to sign the player and to his pay his wages.
Maybe Lammers will even have to take a pay cut if he’s serious about moving on from Ibrox.
The latest club to be linked to Sam Lammers is AZ Alkmaar but there’s not been much movement in this regard as of late.
The Dutch side can certainly afford the forward having just received a healthy sum from the transfer of Vangelis Pavlidis to Benfica.
Sam Lammers cost Rangers £3.5m only last summer and the deal has turned out to be an expensive and disastrous one from an Ibrox point of view.
Now the club are playing at a waiting game as they look for a timely boost to the club’s transfer coffers and to get a high earner off the wage bil..
With fellow summer signing Jose Cifuentes in a similar position at Cruzeiro, Rangers have a number of handsomely paid players on their books who are not contributing enough.
