With 173 Premier League appearances and 76 in the Championship, the 25-times capped Scotland international is hugely experienced.
At 29-years old, he still has plenty to offer.
Ryan Kent looks more likely than ever to leave on a free transfer and Scott Wright has been deemed surplus to requirements according to reports.
As a right-footed, left winger, Fraser would slot into the squad role seamlessly.
His lack of goals is a concern but then he has never played in a possession dominant team like Rangers and it didn’t deter Arsenal from considering a £20m offer when Unai Emery was in charge.
What would Ryan Fraser offer Rangers?
What Fraser also offers is flexibility.
If Rangers wanted to play with three centre-halves, he can play at right wing-back as he has for both Newcastle United and Scotland.
He could genuinely push James Tavernier in that role, even at right-back.
There is also the small matter of Fraser currently training and playing with the Under-21s having fallen out of favour with Eddie Howe.
They wouldn’t be hard to deal with, nor do they need the cash.
Paradoxically, his relegation to the youth team has earned him praise for his professionalism by demonstrating to his younger teammates the work rate and application needed to make it at the top.
Rangers fans would all love to see a forward brought into the attack who will guaranteed goals and assists but the squad in general needs an upgrade.
Fraser would do that, there can be no argument that he is a better player than both Kent and Wright.
