Rangers winger Scott Wright is interesting clubs in the English Championship amid promises from Michael Beale to reshape his squad in the summer.

The 25-year-old attacker joined Rangers from Aberdeen in the January of 2021 after initially signing a pre-contract but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the squad.

Football Insider are the ones who have claimed Rangers star Scott Wright could leave the Gers in the summer, with that report also claiming the club turned down interest in January.

A squad player who has shown occasional moments of quality, there’s a sentiment amongst Rangers fans that perhaps Scott Wright isn’t what we need to go to the next level.

There are others who believe the ex-Dundee loanee is under-utilised in the squad and it’ll be interesting to see what happens next for the player.

Rangers do however have a homegrown quota to meet for their European squads and it poses an interesting dilemma for manager Michael Beale.

Whilst the Ibrox manager didn’t mention Scott Wright or anyone else for that matter, it appears Rangers are ready to trim the fat from a bloated squad which has too many injuries.

“We have too many players in my opinion,” Beale said.

“There’s a reason we’ve carried one or two more, we’ve had injury problems and we’ve had to supplement that. When I say we have too many, we have young players out on loan as well.

“So when pre-season starts they’re all back in the building. I want all the players to have clarity in their role in the squad and it’s difficult the more players you have.

“If you have a second team behind your first team then you probably need one more goalie and one more number 9.

“We don’t need any more than that and if there are young boys around it then wonderful but we don’t want to devalue the shirt or expectations.”

As Scott Wright muses over his Rangers future, Nicolas Raskin has been letting slip about potential injury returns.
