Rangers have put a three-year contract on the table for Ross McCausland.

That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim that Philippe Clement has made it a “priority” to tie the young Northern Ireland international down.

This comes amid growing interest in Ross McCausland, who was this week linked to Premier League Brentford as well as AS Roma & Atalanta in Serie A.

Ross McCausland offered Rangers contract

The report claims that Rangers and Philippe Clement view the 20-year-old as the “next big star” to come through the club’s Academy.

Having joined Rangers from Linfield in the summer of 2019, Ross McCausland’s current contract expires at the end of the season.

As per the report, Rangers hope to tie McCausland down until the summer of 2027 and there is a suggestion that the club believe a deal will get done.

The 4th Official are claiming that Rangers are “confident” the young Northern Irish winger will sign a new deal despite the interest from elsewhere.

If Rangers cannot tie Ross McCausland down on a new contract, the club risks losing the winger for a paltry £350k development fee in the summer.

Stunning rise for talented winger

In ordinary circumstances the recent performances of young Ibrox winger Ross McCausland would almost certainly merit a new deal.

But given the backdrop of interest from down south and further ashore, the entire thing now has a sense of haste which Rangers probably could’ve done without.

Breaking through into the squad during the brief managerial tenure of countryman Steven Davis, Ross McCausland hasn’t really looked back.

Initially continuing to get minutes from the bench under Philippe Clement, the winger’s positive displays earned him a first start in the 2-0 win over Livingston before the international break.

Ross McCausland would then get his first cap for the Northern Ireland team in a 5-0 humbling at the hands of Finland.

It’s been quite the rise for the talented young winger but can Ross McCausland buck a recent Rangers academy trend should he go on to sign a new contract?
