As news breaks of an imminent new Rangers deal for Alfredo Morelos, any deal will surely quash reported interest in Wolves striker Patrick Cutrone.
Reports earlier in the week had suggested that the Ibrox side were leading the hunt for the 24-year-old Italian international who cost Wolves £16m three seasons ago [Independent].
These claims originated in Calcio Mercato, who also linked Premiership rivals Celtic to Patrick Cutrone as well as interest from Italy and Spain.
This comes with Patrick Cutrone having spent the last two-and-a-half years out on loan at Fiorentina, Valencia and Empoli respectively.
Having one cap for the Italian national team, the striker comes with decent pedigree and even with the Premier League millions Wolves are splashing this much on a player who doesn’t have something to offer.
The links were then backed up by Football Scotland, who claimed Cutrone had been offered to Rangers this summer with any move depending on the future of Alfredo Morelos.

According to Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst things are going rather positively when it comes to a new Alfredo Morelos contract, suggesting a move for Wolves’ £16m Patrick Cutrone won’t be necessary.
“At the moment he (Morelos) is training in a big part of the session, which is a good sign,” said van Bronckhorst [Sky Sports].
“Every session he looks better and sharper so we are monitoring his development really closely in the coming weeks because when he is fit he is one option for me up front.
“We all know his quality. I would rather have him back as quickly as possible.
“I am only looking at his physical fitness at the moment. He has been out for a long time but is working really hard to get back to the levels that he has to be to perform in games.
“Of course the other issue is the contract he has. He is very positive about signing a new contract, we are doing our best to get Morelos to sign a new contract as well.
“Hopefully in the next coming weeks we will sort it out but the talks are going.”
These Alfredo Morelos contract claims have also been backed up by the Herald, who claim an announcement regarding a new deal is imminent.
If all this is to come to fruition, and Football Scotland were right with their initial claims, then Alfredo Morelos signing a new Rangers contract will surely end any interest in Patrick Cutrone.
Well, unless another Rangers striker moves on this summer.
