The latest Rangers transfer news surrounding Malik Tillman and Cyriel Dessers suggests the Ibrox side have now missed out on three high-profile summer targets if you include Auston Trusty.

The Gers will be financially compensated after Bayern Munich ripped up the option-to-buy the club held over young USA international Malik Tillman but the attacking midfielder won’t be coming to Ibrox.

This is after a successful loan stint in Govan last season where the 20-year-old won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award and scored 12 goals.

According to the latest news surrounding the transfer, Rangers’ previous option-to-buy was a cool £5.8m but the Ibrox club will now receive a £1m pay-off and 10% of any future sale as compensation of the arrangement being cancelled.

Malik Tillman is said to be interesting clubs in the Premier League and around Europe, with the attacking midfielder considered one of Europe’s top young talents.

Rangers transfer news ominous on Dessers & Trusty front

Rangers have also had some made transfer news when it comes to Belgian-born Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers, said to be a target from Serie B side Cremonese.

According to reports coming out of Italy, the deal has now collapsed with the big striker unwilling to ply his trade in Scotland and Rangers unwilling to meet the Italian club’s £7m valuation.

The 28-year-old striker, who scored six Serie A goals as his side was relegated last season, is also being linked with a move to Torino.

The double Rangers transfer blow also comes after claims that USA international defender and Ibrox centre-back target Auston Trusty won’t be joining the club this summer either.

This is because current side Arsenal reportedly value the defender much higher than what Rangers are currently willing to pay, with wages also said to be a stumbling block.

Rangers must turn attentions elsewhere

There have also been links to the likes of Aris winger Luis Palma earlier in the summer, but at no point did we get the impression through the Rangers transfer news that the interest was as concrete as with the aforementioned trio.

Rangers have already been busy in the transfer market, signing Kieran Dowell (Norwich), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea), Jack Butland (Crystal Palace) and Sam Lammers (Atalanta) as things stand.

A deal for Ecuadorean midfielder Jose Cifuentes still appears to be in the pipeline but after the collapse of deals for Cyriel Dessers and Malik Tillman, Rangers fans will hope to see it over the line sooner rather than later.

With a title to reclaim and Champions League campaign on the horizon, the club must dust themselves off quickly and turn their attentions elsewhere as Rangers fan expectation continues to rise.
