An Evening Times report suggests four players contracted at Ibrox until 2020 have already reached the end of the road.
All four Gers have been on loan elsewhere. Despite their efforts with adopted sides this season, though, it’s suggested that Rangers will look to sell them on come the summer.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper has been a regular fixture for League One outfit Scunthorpe, this season. He has played 39 times in all competitions and has often impressed behind a shaky defence. He might not be able to prevent the Iron being relegated, though, and with plenty of keepers on the books at Ibrox, his future probably lies elsewhere.
The ex-Leicester striker experienced one purple patch this season. He scored four times in four matches for Blackpool in November. That run included a spectacular scissor kick against Burton Albion. However, he only has a total of six goals in 25 appearances. It’s not the sort of form that commands a last chance at Ibrox.
The 26-year-old was a mainstay in Fleetwood Town side this campaign. He turned out 36 times in all competitions and scored twice before injury struck. He has subsequently had to return to Rangers for treatment, but Town manager, Joey Barton, has already expressed an interest in signing him permanently [Blackpool Gazette].
On Tuesday, Football Insider reported that Rangers are entering negotiations with the aim of terminating Herrera’s deal early. Whether that happens or not, this report also suggests there’s no way back for the Mexican at Ibrox. This one is hardly a surprise, given that he last turned out for the Gers in February 2018. Now at Necaxa, he hasn’t scored since January.
