Rangers star Joe Aribo is currently playing the football of his career with clubs from across the Premier League reportedly interested in his services.

The Nigerian international has had something of a coming of age and at 25 has grown from occasional contributor to vital first-team player at Ibrox.

There are some nerves in the support surrounding Joe Aribo’s future at the club amid links to the likes of Southampton and Crystal Palace given the ex-Charlton man’s contract situation.

Signed on a cut-price cross-border deal in 2019 whilst the club was being managed by Steven Gerrard, Joe will be entering the final year of his deal from the beginning of next season.

Rangers will be forced to either cash in or let Aribo leave for nothing should Joe fail to sign a new deal with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst previously claiming the club are “positive” regarding the player’s future.

But one report this week had Rangers fans in stitches amid claims that as little as £5m could tempt the Gers to sell the AFCON star this summer amid the contract situation.

Report claims Rangers could sell Joe Aribo for £5m

All Soccer Nigeria sparked a number of parroted reports when it claimed that Rangers had altered their asking price for the midfielder due to the fact his contract is ticking down.

They claim that Rangers value Joe Aribo at £10m but will confusingly accept £5m in the summer.

Brentford, Watford, and Aston Villa are also mentioned alongside Southampton and Palace as being interested in Aribo in the report.

We don’t happen to have any directly in the know information on this one, but given the risk associated with selling a player of Joe Aribo’s ability, we don’t think this has any substance.

With league titles and Champions League qualification – and the £30m+ that comes with it – on the line, selling our Joe for a reduced fee doesn’t really stand to benefit anyone.

Given that the player could go on to have a huge impact on the title race and the club’s European ambitions, you’ve got to think Rangers would rather take their chances than sell at such a low price.

Meanwhile, one South American forward linked to Rangers has officially made a decision on his future.
