Rangers next move should be flying machine winger who is perfect player trading fit

Rangers haven’t had much joy trying to sign a new winger with only Oscar Cortes returning to the club for a second time.

Philippe Clement isn’t stupid and he will know that the wide areas are where the Gers are weakest and where most improvement could be made.

Reports have suggested that Scott Wright is close to sealing a move to Sheffield Wednesday and Abdallah Sima is no nearer a return to Glasgow despite claims that his price tag could be lowered.

Rangers have missed out on Yusuf Kabadayi and it has gone quiet on Adama Traore too.

Relebohile Mofokeng should be next name on Rangers list

One name who is still available is Relebohile Mofokeng who has been backed by Mxolisi Silango, his coach at the School of Excellence Academy, to be a success if he moves on this summer.

Mofokeng has just enjoyed a hugely successful season and won’t be playing in his native South Africa for long.

The 19-year old flying machine has already been capped at senior level, he had a trial at Wolverhampton Wanderers last season and RB Salzburg are said to be interested in him now too.

He’s won the Premiership young player of the year award and scored the winning goal in the South African cup final this season.

This is the profile of player that Rangers need to be targeting.

Players at the beginning of their careers who are on an upward trajectory.

There are never any guarantees, but it is lower risk if a player costs the sort of money that someone like Hamza Igamane has already cost.

The going rate for a talented teen at Rangers end of the market is affordable if it doesn’t quite work out.

Mofokeng fits the perfect profile for Rangers trading model

Alfredo Morelos will always be the best modern example, along with the likes of Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara.

Igamane is the most expensive player bought so far which, at £1.5m, highlights the budget that Philippe Clement is working with.

As the three former players mentioned above prove though, is that money spent doesn’t always equate to better quality.

Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers cost the best part of £8m combined and Rangers fans who want them to stay are few and far between.

For the right wing, Rangers need a player like Traore.

One who has scored goals and created assists all through his career, a player who is ready to go straight into the first team, however, they also need one like Mofokeng.

A project player who can rotate in and out of the team but is also capable of contributing now.

Hopefully Mofokeng won’t be a name that Rangers fans see in years to come and think “what if”.
