Rangers winger Jake Hastie has returned from a loan spell at Partick Thistle and is starting for the B team tonight against Cowdenbeath.
Hastie joined the Jags in August for a third loan stint away from Ibrox in as many seasons.
However, his time at Firhill didn’t go according to plan.
The 22-year-old didn’t start a single match under Ian McCall, last featuring in a Championship fixture in October.
He wasn’t named in Thistle’s matchday squad for their 2-2 draw with Hamilton Accies on Saturday amid talk that he was set to return to Rangers and his recall has now been confirmed.
Jake Hastie returns to Rangers
The B team are taking on Cowdenbeath at the Rangers Training Centre tonight and Hastie was named in the starting XI.
“After speaking to Jake we came to the decision that it was best for him to go back to Rangers,” said Thistle boss McCall [Ptfc.co.uk]. “He’s not had the game time that he or I would have liked for him during his time at Firhill which is unfortunate because I do think he’s a player with a lot quality.”
“Unfortunately, the team has been in good form which has meant he’s had to come off the bench and it’s always difficult to make an impact that way.
“Like I said, he’s a player with a plenty of quality and ability who I’m sure still has a great future in the game and we wish him all the best for that future.”
Another player who was recently recalled from a loan spell, Kai Kennedy, was also named in the B team starting XI.
Kennedy spent the first half of the season on loan at Dunfermline Athletic but didn’t make the impact many hoped he would at East End Park.
He made 14 appearances, scoring just one goal and only notching two assists, and his recall was confirmed on Friday.
